All The Essential Details You Require

Registration & Expo

Registration

You must pick up your race pack and race items at the Registration & Expo prior to race day. A Sports Expo will be held in conjunction with Registration and exhibitors include sponsors, suppliers and official merchandise.

Race Pack Pick Up

Participants must bring their eTicket and photo ID with them to collect their Race Number and Race Pack from Race Headquarters, Registration & Expo, 135 Halsey Street (old America's Cup base), Auckland City, between the following hours:

  • Thursday 29 October 12:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Friday 30 October 10:00am - 7:00pm
  • Saturday 31 October 10:00am - 7:00pm

Race packs include your race number, IPICO timing chip (which is loaned to you), any ferry/bus tickets you have purchased, exclusive adidas Climalite race T-Shirt and gear bag.

Note: The KIDS MARATHON event is not timed therefore KIDS MARATHON participants do not receive a timing chip with their race packs.

Please note: The first few hours of the first day of Registration (Thursday 29 October, 12.00pm) is always the busiest time. Expect delays if you choose to come to Registration at this time.

Participants may collect other participants race packs provided they bring their own photo ID and the eTicket of the other participant with them. Please note if you are collecting on behalf of someone else you will cause delays for yourself, other participants and registration staff. The organisers do not encourage the collection of multiple race packs.

If you forget your eTicket, you can still collect your race pack from Registration. Staff at the Registration Help Desk will assist you, but you must bring some form of photo identification with you. Please be aware the registration process will take longer.

Race Numbers

A different coloured race number will be provided at Registration for entrants in each event for ease of identification. The Race Number must be worn on the front of your singlet/shirt and be visible at all times. Failure to do so will result in disqualification or you being removed from the course during the event.

Please complete the section on the back of your race number with your name, any medical conditions and importantly a contact name and number (other than your own) in case of emergency.

IPICO Timing Chip

At registration, all participants (except for KIDS MARATHON) will be issued with an IPICO timing chip. The timing chip is loaned to you to allow the timing provider to time you and provide your result to you. You must tie it to your shoe laces as shown below before you start and wear it on your shoe throughout the race and over the finish line. Please ensure you run over (and not beside) the timing mats at the start, on the course and the finish to give the technology the best chance of capturing your times. You must return your timing chip at the end of the finish chute. There is a facility (Chip Check) at the Registration & Expo to check your timing chip.

Note: The KIDS MARATHON event is not timed therefore KIDS MARATHON participants do not receive a timing chip with their race packs.

Tie the champion chip into your shoelaces

Note: When you finish the race you must remove the timing chip from your shoe and place it in the collection bags at the end of the finish chute. It is your responsibility to return the timing chip via the collection bags in the finish chute before leaving the finish area. All non-returned chips will be charged to you at $50.00 incl GST each.

If you do not finish the event, please ensure you return the timing chip to the Timing Chip Collection officials at the end of the finish chute or mail it back to us as soon as possible at adidas Auckland Marathon, M129 Private Bag 300987, Albany, Auckland.

IMPORTANT: All non-returned chips will be charged to you at $50.00 incl GST each

adidas Climalite T-Shirts

adidas Climalite T-Shirts will be distributed with your Race Pack at Registration prior to the event to all entrants in the Marathon, Half Marathon and Quarter Marathon events. Entrants in the 5km Walk will not receive a T-Shirt but will receive a Heart Foundation adidas branded cap instead (limited to the first 600 participants who collect their race packs).

Please ensure you identify your correct T-Shirt size on the entry form (due to T-Shirts being printed to order, a change of size once ordered, will not be possible). The T-Shirts are designed to be a smaller fit for the Climalite technology fabric to work effectively, if you prefer a looser or longer fitting t-shirt then select the next size up to what you would normally wear.

Please note: T-shirt sizes cannot be swapped or changed at Registration.

Ferry and Bus Tickets

Ferry and North Shore Bus tickets MUST be purchased when completing your online entry/paper entry form. Ferry Tickets are limited to 7,000 passengers traveling from Auckland City across to Devonport for the Marathon and Half Marathon starts, as well as from Devonport to Auckland City for the Quarter Marathon start. Return supporters tickets for the Marathon and Half Marathon starts are also available. All tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. Please refer to the Entry Information for further information on these services.

Ferry and Bus tickets will be available for purchase at the Registration & Expo ONLY if stocks are not sold out prior. Ferry and Bus tickets will not be available for purchase on event day.

Race Pack Gear Bags

Marathon & Half Marathon

At Race Headquarters, you will be supplied with a Race Pack Gear Bag and bag tag (please ensure your bag tag is marked with your race number and name with a pen). This bag is for you to leave any surplus gear that you have at the start in Devonport (Marathon & Half Marathon). This will then be transported to the finish for collection, once you have completed your event. Only this gear bag will be accepted for storage.

Gear Trucks will be provided by Courier Post for Marathon and Half Marathon participants, to leave excess clothing in the supplied gear bag, at the start. Please place your gear bag in the Cage with the number range that corresponds to your Race Number. All clothing is to be placed in the Gear Bag provided at Registration (NOT A SPORTS BAG OR ANY OTHER BAG) and clearly marked with your Race Number and name on the bag tag. Gear bags can be collected from the Gear Trucks located under the Motorway Flyover at the finish venue, Victoria Park.

Quarter Marathon & 5km Walk

A Gear Bag facility is provided for the Quarter Marathon and 5km Walk at the northern end of Victoria Park under the Victoria Park flyover bridge. You can leave your gear bag there prior to your race (please ensure your bag tag is marked with your race number and name with a pen).

Note: Any gear placed in a bag other than the Gear Bag provided will not be accepted, and will be the responsibility of the participant to get to the finish.

Late Entries at Registration

Late entries will be accepted at the Registration Help Desk during Registration up until 7pm Saturday 31 October if the event field is not sold out. NB: Quarter Marathon, 5km Walk and Kids Marathon do not have an entry limit.
