2009 Marathon Prize Money Jackpot increases to $20,000

In 2009 the prize money jackpot has been increased to $20,000 (incl GST, if any, and withholding tax to be deducted). If the jackpot is not won this year, then the prize money will jackpot to next year i.e. if not won this year, then the total prize money jackpot for 2010 will be $20,000 available for the 2010 event.

Please note the prize money jackpot is capped at a maximum $20,000 (i.e. the jackpot amount will not increase over $20,000 but will remain at $20,000 until won, and then revert back to $5,000 the following year).

If the prize money jackpot is won then the following year will be reset again at $5,000. If the jackpot is not won after being reset to $5,000 then the jackpot will increase by $5,000 each year up to a maximum of $20,000. Each year's prize money jackpot will be won by bettering either or both the men's and women's course times set by the organisers prior to the event. In the event of more than one person bettering the set course time, the individuals bettering the set course time will then each share the prize money jackpot in equal portions. All fully paid up entrants into the Marathon event only are eligible.

Course times set for 2009 are:

  • Men 2 hours 13 minutes 00 seconds
  • Women 2 hours 38 minutes 00 seconds

* Please see waiver and release details regarding prizes when entering.
