2013 Course Change
We are currently working on a proposed course change for the 2013 event that will further enhance the world renowned beauty and scenic reputation of its course, as well as adding to the enjoyment of participants in the Marathon and Half Marathon events.
Subject to all relevant authorities’ approvals, the course change will take in the majestic views of Auckland City from the Southbound lanes of the Northern Busway from Smales Farm bus station right through to, and over the Southbound extension lanes of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, off at Shelly Beach Road connecting up to Sarsfield St and continuing along the current course down Curran St and around Westhaven Drive.
Should the proposed course change not be viable, for whatever reason, then the race course used in 2012, and previous years, will be used for the 2013 event.
New 2013 Charity Programme
We are pleased to have introduced a new charity programme to the adidas Auckland Marathon for 2013. Our goal is to make the adidas Auckland Marathon one of the biggest charity fundraising events in the world, and we need your help to do this. There are two ways to get involved…
Go gold – adidas Auckland Marathon Golden Charity Entries
As a part of the Charity Programme, we are excited to offer a VIP experience, the Golden Charity Entries. are limited to just a handful of runners and are the most exclusive entries available in the race.
With a Golden Charity Entry you'll receive free training plans and support, fundraising tips, and an exclusive gold bib to wear on race day. If you want to find out more about the Golden Charity Entries and sign up for one, click here. All of the charities below have Golden Entries, be quick because they are in very limited supply!
Alternatively, if you get an entry in the race through the public entry system why not raise funds anyway, even if it's a couple of hundred dollars? Just get in touch with any of the charities above or another close to your heart and let them know you'd like to run on their behalf.

Breathe easy with the Nissan Leaf
The adidas Auckland Marathon is thrilled to welcome Nissan New Zealand on board as the exclusive vehicle sponsor for the event.
Runners pounding the pavements may have already caught sight of the two Nissan X-Trail vehicles presented to marathon organisers - the first of a number of initiatives set to be announced in coming months involving Nissan’s innovative fleet. Keep an eye out too, for the zero emissions all electric Nissan Leaf that will be our lead car for the marathon. It’s a distinctive blue colour and carries the “Breathe Easy" slogan."
adidas Auckland Marathon Managing Director Stephen Brown says Nissan provides an exciting addition to the event’s sponsor family. “The extensive and impressive range of new Nissan models, along with the company’s experience in activation and leveraging major international marathons such as the prestigious New York Marathon provides our event with unique expertise and some exciting new initiatives.”
Nissan New Zealand Managing Director John Manley says the company is thrilled to have signed a three-race partnership with New Zealand’s premier road race.
“We’ve seen this event grow to become one of Auckland and New Zealand’s most anticipated annual events and Nissan New Zealand is pleased to be able to offer the adidas Auckland Marathon team some practical solutions as part of our sponsorship which we know will assist them hugely to meet their goals.”
Runners can breathe easy knowing that this year’s official race car, the Nissan LEAF, runs completely on electricity, and will easily outdistance our best runners without emitting irritating diesel or petrol fumes.
Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements from Nissan New Zealand as we move closer to the start-line.
