Breathe easy with the Nissan Leaf

9 AUGUST 2012

The adidas Auckland Marathon is thrilled to welcome Nissan New Zealand on board as the exclusive vehicle sponsor for the event.

Runners pounding the pavements may have already caught sight of the two Nissan X-Trail vehicles presented to marathon organisers - the first of a number of initiatives set to be announced in coming months involving Nissan’s innovative fleet. Keep an eye out too, for the zero emissions all electric Nissan Leaf that will be our lead car for the marathon. It’s a distinctive blue colour and carries the “Breathe Easy" slogan."

adidas Auckland Marathon Managing Director Stephen Brown says Nissan provides an exciting addition to the event’s sponsor family.  “The extensive and impressive range of new Nissan models, along with the company’s experience in activation and leveraging major international marathons such as the prestigious New York Marathon provides our event with unique expertise and some exciting new initiatives.”

Nissan New Zealand Managing Director John Manley says the company is thrilled to have signed a three-race partnership with New Zealand’s premier road race.

“We’ve seen this event grow to become one of Auckland and New Zealand’s most anticipated annual events and Nissan New Zealand is pleased to be able to offer the adidas Auckland Marathon team some practical solutions as part of our sponsorship which we know will assist them hugely to meet their goals.”

Runners can breathe easy knowing that this year’s official race car, the Nissan LEAF, runs completely on electricity, and will easily outdistance our best runners without emitting irritating diesel or petrol fumes.

Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements from Nissan New Zealand as we move closer to the start-line.
